CREEPY DOLL - who or what are you???

Hi guys. I am glad that some people took actions about that creepy doll that is spreading in items on exchange. Here are main informations about her.

Where is it came from?
This doll came originally from TSR. The creator uploaded wrong version and she have noticed it after 2 months that it was broken. But it was too late and this doll spreaded very fast to other users.

How this doll look like?

What this doll do?
She is attaching in invisible way to the houses, sims, households, patterns, objects, clothes, tattoos etc. It is acting like a virus. for example: I have it in my game and I am uploading items to the exchange (this doll is attaching to them without my knowledge). Then some people downloading my items and they getting the doll to their games. And they uploading they creations to exchange and spreading the doll to more users. And she is not only on exchange but also on other sim websites too.

What this doll can do to my game?

It can do nothing to some games but to other games crashing, game lagging etc. As for me I couldn't use custom content in the houses. I could have it in game but as soon as I put some cc in the house like lamp, sofa or any other cc all house was lagging. After removing cc from the house it was fine again. Nobody could help me with it. After finding out about the doll and removing her it was fine again :D

What can I do to get rid of her?

1. make backup of your game just in case if something will go wrong. For most of the people this doll is removed successfully without problems.

2. check if this doll is not in your houses as a toy or it's not in your kids inventory

3. go to install content in your launcher (not downloads) and look for the doll and uninstall it

4. check in DCBackups (my documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/DCBackup)
for this file
 0x038a68fe04da61a6aa65f939d77fbc37.package
and delete it too.

5. check also your downloads because there was the place from where the doll was installed to the game (if it was originally downloaded from TSR or from the exchange with some file) use Custard tool to check your sims3packs. (You can download it from modthesims - more info in link to my blog in the end of this post)

6. also go to your Export folder (my documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Exports) if you sent something recently to exchange. Because this doll is attaching to the files. It will be in your uploads too. Remove files or clean it with Custard tool. (untick the doll)

7. check all your creations that's are in your studio on exchange or on other pages that you sent something too. If they have the doll remove it

LETS NOT SPREAD THIS DOLL TO OTHER SIMMERS!

Check also my tutorial how to use Custard tool (made by Delphy from mod the sims). It is very usefull tool that will help get rid of the doll

  1. ok i have deleted the doll successfully :o) i think what it was doing was making every baby girl i had really glitchy so i will go back on it now and see if it has made any difference

  2. I don't know if the doll was the reason to do it. Most of the baby/kids glitches are made by corrupted clothes.
    But good luck Little-miss-trouble :)

  3. I would love you forever if this has fixed my crashes lol. My game crashes randomly, but I don't have the doll in any house. Can it do it from just being in the buy mode?

    Thanks!

  4. you don't have doll in your house. Is this mean that you have it in the game?
Yes, it can crash all your game, make it lag just by being in the game. Because it's attaching to the lots and make game act weird. Lot of people said already that crashing was the main problem when they had that doll.
The best solution is to remove doll completely.

  7. Heyy, GlitzyAngel. Thanks so much for this tutorial, I'm finally free of that doll now, now that I've got rid of the backup. When I removed her from the launcher a few days ago, my game came back to life and lagging is no more. Thanks!

Oh and btw, I thought I'd just say I just LOVE your avatar on thesims3.com!

  9. Thanks for this information... I too had the creepy doll and no idea where she came from lol. I was wondering if you happened to know if you deleted other items out of your DC backup file, does it effect items that you haven't uninstalled on your launcher? I have some other things that I've deleted off the launcher but are still lurking around and I have no idea what the file name is of course >:|. Does it hurt the game to completely empty that file if you haven't uninstalled them? Just wondering. (I've never really messed with it before. Probably a lot of stuff I need to get rid of in there lol)

  10. All files from DCBackup are from installed content in your launcher. They are all store items there + cc if you downloaded it.

If you deleting items from launcher be sure to uninstall it from installed content (not from downloads)

If you want to clean your launcher from unwanted items there is good tutorial:

    good luck!

  11. I found another one with this program. It actually crashed the program twice. My game was crashing after a few minutes. I spot checked with the program and found that it couldn't even open this one. The program would crash. I deleted this from my game and no more crashes on my game.

  15. I have that bloody doll I have searched and deleted it out of the backup.. It shows as still be there I have searched through the folders and have found no sign of it.. Yet still shows up in kids buy.. I ran that program that you recommended it didn't pop up.. So now I am wondering where else this blasted thing might be hiding.. Any ideas?

  16. If you see it in the game and you deleted this file from DCBackup it should be in Installed content (step 3). Many people checking downloads folder, it is not there where should be doll looking for. It must be in installed content. You need to slowly check file by file. The problem is that files are often skipping there so it is easy to miss it. Try to check slowly few times there.

  17. I've had this virus twice so far. The first time, I uninstalled my game -and a year and a half of gameplay and completed legacy games- and only found out about this doll after the fact. The second time was right this second, and I just happened to see it in buy mode after installing some clothes from the exchange. This is a great tutorial and should be spread around.

  18. It is spread around :) English the sims 3 forum use it and facebook groups and some other forums too :) I got even thanks from SimGuru Hydra. I would say it saved thousands of games :)

Is your game fine now Alison? If you want to be safe with your game always check files with Custard tool. I have tutorial about it too on my blog

  21. omg so that the evil doll looks like in the game! i thought it was just a toy! it messed up my kids in CAS! that evil little biach of a doll

    ReplyDelete
  22. hi Mikayla yes that is the doll. It is a toy but corrupted.
You mean kids are looking in CAS like a monsters? If yes it is not the doll that make this but wrong made custom content clothes. Some clothes are not supposed to be wear by kids/toddlers and creator made mistake and made clothes for all age. That is why kids look messed. If my guessings are right check this thread on the sims 3 forum and look for this bad clothes and delete from your game:

    good luck! :)

  29. hi Anon It was originally from TSR but this doll is no longer there. It was replaced by creator for a new working version. But I guess this doll can still be found in a different places. The best is to check all cc that we downloading with Custard tool (from modthesims)

And you made my day with that queen of England :)) thanks

  30. Nikki many people were not looking good enough in the launcher. You should look for it in installed content under ALL installed content and do not use scroll from the mouse because it can skip some items and you can miss it. I hope you will find it there.

  31. above my comment, 2 above,

no prob glitz i love to make comments, especialy to people who help.

i was on youtube and on 1 vid this guy said he had multiple crashes after he downloaded quite a few things

    ReplyDelete
  32. Wow,that is one really evil doll.Although not a Sims 3 player,I do feel that it is unfair for custom content creators to not test their creations in-game before sharing it.All creators should be clear and responsible for what they upload and avoid being too...drastic and over confident that their creations are okay without testing it first.Thing s happen.Quality is what is aimed for,not quantity.Hah.Sorry about the rant. But it's really annoying when a bad or corrupted/glitchy CC borks up your game.Especially when it takes a long time to load up or/and when you're middle of playing it and suddenly it crashes.
Downloading custom content is like wading in shark-infested waters with a cut.Lol(I'm bad at metaphors -__-)
Anyway hopefully after this unfortunate incident everyone, both creators and users will be more careful in the future with what they create/download.

    1. thank you Abigail Nikita for your comment. I think the doll made many "evil" but good too because people become more aware about custom content items and most of them know now how to protect their games. And agree creators should be checking their stuff before sending them public
